Troubleshooting Tips for the LED Remote Controlled Spotlight
- Keeping the Spotlight On Continuously
- The photocell ensures that the spotlight is activated only in darkness and this feature cannot be overridden.
- Loose Wire in Spotlight
- You may find what appears to be a “loose wire” inside the spotlight. This is the antenna that is needed for the remote control function. It is perfectly normal that it is “loose”. Do not try to remove it or connect it to anything.
- Batteries in Spotlight
- Make sure the batteries are the correct size and type per the instruction manual. Do not mix old and new batteries; use only fresh batteries.
- Make sure the batteries are installed correctly with the polarities in the correct position.
- Testing Photocell on Spotlight
- Test the spotlight in a completely dark room (e.g., a closet or bathroom) with motion. Make sure the area is safe and free of obstruction prior to testing. Then wave your hand in front of the spotlight to trigger it. Test it more than once.
- If the spotlight itself is defective, you should know that at this point. The motion sensor should work regardless of the remote control’s functionality. If it is determined that the motion sensor works, please proceed.
- Batteries in Remote Control
- Make sure the batteries in the remote are installed correctly. The “textured side” of the battery should be facing down and the smooth side should be facing up. Both batteries need to be installed this way – one on top of the other.
- Test the remote by pushing the “on” button. When this is done, the red light on the remote should come on. This signals that the batteries are installed correctly and the remote is functioning.
- Remote Control Does Not Operate Spotlight
- Make sure the slider bar codes on the inside of the remote control and the spotlight are exactly the same. Both units should arrive with the codes the same and should not be changed unless you are using multiple spotlights and need to change the codes so that certain spotlight codes match certain remote codes. Once you have checked that the codes on the inside of the remote and the spotlight are the same, test the unit in complete darkness again.
- The remote has an approximate range of 75 feet. If you are using the remote through glass or other materials, please note that the activation range will be reduced.
- Conclusion
- After going through all of the previous steps, if the spotlight is still not functioning properly, it may be deemed that the unit is defective and needs to be
